The three movies opening in Sioux Falls this weekend are:
Before Midnight concludes, probably, the story of Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy), who met in Before Sunrise and reunited in Before Sunset. They are together now and facing the realities and banalities of everyday life. Celine could benefit from my hard-won wisdom because when she tells Jesse she wanted a romantic response to something she said instead of a quip, I want to stand up and shout “You can’t get someone to react the way you want them too. That’s foolish.” Perhaps that’s why I so often go to movies alone. Too much embarrassed companions in my past.
If you’ve seen the last trailer for Man of Steel,* then you already know what the “S” on Superman’s chest stands for. If you’ve seen all of the trailers, you might have seen the best parts the latest in the Superman saga has to offer. Henry Cavill plays the Krypton native in this latest rendering of the Superman tale. Doesn’t it seem that they’re coming out every other year?
This is the End has a lot of familiar and favorite actors in it, placing … themselves. I’m in it just to see Danny McBride play Danny McBride. It looks silly and goofy, and in no way will it make me want to stand up and yell back at the screen. So who wants to go with me?
* This is not the link to that trailer. I didn’t want to be blamed for spoiling anyone’s fun. This trailer is essentially nonverbal with very militant music.
